How you will contribute…

As Legal Counsel, you will provide legal and compliance support to our business globally, reporting to the General Counsel.  Working directly with senior executives and the legal team, the successful candidate will provide the highest level of support for issues and concerns within the organization, in a practical, coordinated, and effective manner, in alignment with company and external requirements.

You will work closely with the business, participating in team meetings and providing legal support for both the daily business operations and strategic initiatives. You’ll manage legal issues across a wide spectrum of areas, including clinical trials, healthcare compliance, product management, business development, human resources, and other medical device related issues.  You’re expected to exercise judgment and demonstrate the highest integrity in obtaining results, drafting and negotiating agreements, and generally providing legal advice.

In addition, you will develop a good understanding of the company’s business and possess the ability to evaluate and balance both legal and business factors when providing advice.

 

  1. Represent the Legal Department as a practical, business-minded advisor for individuals across the company, including senior executives.
  2. Negotiate and draft clinical trial agreements, including clinical research organization and site agreements.
  3. Manage legal aspects of integrations of additional businesses and products for the company and other business-focused projects.
  4. Drive and maintain programs for designated compliance risk areas, including bribery & corruption and employee conduct, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  5. Develop and maintain expert knowledge of evolving and existing requirements and regulations relating to healthcare and medical device companies, including with regards to compliance risks, and provide direction on anticipated, future requirements.
  6. Provide clear and concise communications regarding legal issues and requirements to drive consistency across global sites.
  7. Coordinate with internal and external experts on legal, intellectual property, regulatory, HR, and commercial matters.
  8. Draft, negotiate, and finalize multiple forms of agreements on a regular basis, including standard agreements, such as CDAs, up to complex, highly customized agreements.
  9. Assist in drafting policies, providing trainings, and addressing issues related to various legal and compliance matters, such as privacy, HIPAA compliance, product promotion, regulatory, and other matters.
  10. Provide legal support generally on day-to-day issues facing the business.
  11. Provide support in other areas as assigned by his/her supervisor.

 

Your qualifications will be… 

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) with excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school required
  • Active bar membership (in good standing) in at least one US jurisdiction required.
  • 3-5 years of law firm and/or in-house corporate experience, including with medical device, pharmaceutical or other healthcare focused multinational companies required.
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial transactional contracts required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage legal risks for complex matters.
  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Business oriented legal advice with demonstration of highest ethics and integrity.
  • Experience in compliance, including with anti-corruption programs and data privacy issues.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels.
  • Highly organized, exhibiting meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently on assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, an energetic, proactive, flexible individual with high integrity and ethics in all dealings.
  • Eager to learn, enthused by the day and resilient with a sense of humor.
